Skin care: five tips that will help you
Good skin care, such as sun protection and gentle cleansing, can keep your skin healthy and radiant. Good skin care and healthy lifestyle choices can help you delay natural aging and prevent various skin problems. Start protecting your skin with these five tips.
1. Protect yourself from the sun
One of the most important ways to care for your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can lead to wrinkles, age spots, and other skin problems,
For the most complete sun protection:
- Use sunscreen. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. Apply plenty of sunscreen, and reapply every two hours.
- Look for shady places. Avoid the sun between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., when the sun's rays are most intense.
- Wear protective clothing. Protect your skin by wearing tight-fitting, long-sleeved clothing, long pants, and wide-brimmed hats or sun protection clothing that is specially designed to block UV rays.
2. Don't smoke
Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to the formation of wrinkles. Smoking also damages collagen and elastin, the fibers that give your skin strength and elasticity.
3. Cleaning and shaving
Daily cleansing and shaving can be damaging to your skin. To treat it gently:
- Limit the duration of bathing. Hot water and long showers or baths strip away natural oils from your skin. Limit the length of your bath or shower and use lukewarm water instead of hot water.
- Avoid harsh soaps. Harsh soaps and detergents can strip away natural oils from your skin. Instead, use mild bar soaps, cream soaps, or liquid soaps.
- Shave carefully. To protect and lubricate your skin, apply shaving cream, lotion or gel before shaving.
- Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat your skin dry with a towel to leave some moisture on your skin.
- Moisturizes dry skin. If you have dry skin, use a moisturizer that suits your skin type.
4. Eat a healthy diet
A healthy diet can help you look and feel better. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated.
5. Control stress
When stress is out of control, skin can become more sensitive and acne breakouts and other skin problems can be triggered.
